i usually edit in 16 bit and convert it as the last step in my post. Not because i do anything that destructive to the picture - i havent really been in a situation where i needed 16 bit. It just comes of from the raw files like that :)

it's pure habit for me too and I too downscale at the last step. how much slower is it for you when working in 16-bit? I feel it's slower, but not to the point where it's annoying (yet)

it's not slower. i guess its because i got plenty of hardware overhead.
The point where i do notice the difference is the saved size. 16 bit psd files are massive compared to the 8bit version
